Remember, that even innocent-looking goods like souvenirs or foods can be subject to strict import policies, especially taking into consideration the threat of terrorist attacks. Here are products which are allowed and prohibited into Canada, but please note that due to constant changes in pest control etc. this list may be changed at any time, therefore it is important to familiarise yourself with its updated version.

What products are allowed into Canada?

• Candies and baked goods without meat (up to 20 kg per person)
• Cheese (up to 20 kg per person), if the value exceeds $20 000 it may be subject to high rates of duty fees
• Most of fish and seafood
• Cut flowers (not for propagation)
• Dried fruits and vegetables (up to 20 kg per person)
• Frozen fruits and vegetables (up to 20 kg per person)
• Canned fruits and vegetables (up to 20 kg per person)
• Herbs, spices, coffee, tea and condiments
• Fully tanned leather goods and skins
• Small quantities of sand and sea shells (with no animal matter or soil)
• Wooden souvenirs without bark and insects

• Milk and related products
• Most of fresh fruits and vegetables,
• Weapons and firearms,
• Plants and animals,
• Ammunition, fireworks and explosives.
